This is a working social media lab. Think of us as a start-up. We are engaged in social media case studies, brand development, and we’re going to push the boundaries a bit–test some theories, make a few mistakes. We can do that. We’re young and fearless.
We are practicing the art of social.
We’re studying the development of thoughtful engagement templates, and the creation of opportunistic strategies for multiple platforms in social media. Here, conversation trumps image, content is king–real-time wins over a day-old news story.
As PR and Journalism students in the USC Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism, we know the future is rooted in the social media space. The app is irrelevant; it could be Twitter, G+, FourSquare or one of the myriad of applications fighting for attention. Whatever the name, these are facile distribution platforms that can be used to deliver messages. And they will continue to propagate and gain influence.
Online search is “now” focused. That changes the game. Ownership of real-time conversation not only effects perception and image, it creates the architecture to support business goals. Seeds can be planted. Ideas generated. Projects launched. News delivered. Customers served. Opportunities chanced upon.
When we participate now–we join in the definition of the future. We can shape it. Actually create it. An authentic voice can be seen…and heard.
